It's that time again - time to hop with our Canada Inks Up! Team as we celebrate Christmas in July! It's become quite a popular theme for a really good reason - as crafters we need to get a head start on making our cards, bags and tags so starting now just makes sense! Join us as we share some great projects and please leave a comment when you visit so we know you were there!
Today I'm featuring some of the sparkly goodness in the Lights Aglow Suite shown on p 30-33 in the July-December 2022 Mini (also known in my end of town as the Holiday Mini!). The Lights Aglow Designer Series Paper Pack features some stunning prints all with some gold d\in the designs on one side. The other side is a great neutral for any time of the year . . . . and the colours are pretty much my favourites for creating cards and gift boxes for Christmas giving.
My first card features some of the DSP peeking through a Gold Glimmer Specialty Paper frame die cut from the Picture This Dies. I also used some of the Evening Evergreen Glimmer Specialty Paper to die cut the trees (Snowman Dies p 44) and then added the sparkly Real Red Glimmer Paper bird die cut (also from Snowman Dies). I stamped the greeting in Evening Evergreen and die cut with one of the Stylish Shapes Dies (AC p 175) before I added a few of the Festive Pearls. The card base is Thick Very Vanilla - so nice to have the DSP coordinate with Very Vanilla for a new look💕
My next card was born when I looked at the pieces left from the first card's die cut frame and wanted to give them their own home - I decided to use the Sale-a-bration Silver & Gold DSP and a Thick Basic White card base. I added some more of the Evening Evergreen Glimmer Paper trees and the little bird (I die cut lots!) and then I added some of the gold pearls from the Festive Pearls Pack.
My final card is a result of my picking out the Cherry Cobbler sheet from the Lights Aglow DSP pack because I really liked the look of the card on p 30 in the Holiday Mini. It's pretty cool with the Layering Diorama Dies which I don't have - so I made a frame using my Deckled Rectangles Dies to highlight the pretty gold snowflake design behind the frame.
I used the Christmas Lights Bundle on this card - heat embossing the Gold design stamped first with VersaMark on the Evening Evergreen tree. Then I die cut the tree with both tree dies - the detail and the outline one. I also die cut the outline in Gold Glimmer Paper to sit behind the embossed tree and let some of the sparkle show through the cutouts. I added some gold Adhesive-backed Seasonal Sequins to this card and some Evening Evergreen Open Weave Ribbon. All my cards have a bit of stamping inside (from Peaceful Deer and Christmas Lights stamp sets) and on the envelopes - I also used some DSP strips for the back flap on the envelopes.
