Canada Inks Up! Team Blog Hop - Friendly Gnomes Country Gingham Card

It's another fun day today when our Canada Inks Up! team shares some new products from the January - April 2023 Mini (aka Spring Mini)  - I can't wait to see what everyone has done as it's always the best inspiration for new ideas!

I wanted to make a couple of cards with two different colours from the Country Gingham Designer Series Paper as I thought they were bright and spring-like . . .  and I wanted to have my stamping layer have the Stitched With Whimsy Dies on it because I love the effect.

When I ran the rectangle shaped die through my Basic White Cardstock strip, I realized I could make another card with the square Whimsy Die and that became my favourite card idea to share with you today! Funny how that happens sometimes LOL!

I reached for the new Friendly Gnomes stamps and picked the cute guy holding the heart and then added the Love You sentiment too  - I stamped some of the grass image in Parakeet Party to coordinate with the blends I used for the gnome's shirt . . .  I added some vellum behind the stamped piece for added texture.

The Thick Basic White card base was a great start and the Sweet Sorbet Country Gingham pattern added the bright contrast I was going for  . . .  I cut the 6" x 6" DSP at 4" then cut that piece at 5 1/4" and used the 2" x 6" piece that was left for my envelope flap, and the 3/4" x 4" piece on the inside of my card - that used every bit of the DSP for the one card - don't you love when that happens??  If you look carefully you can see the bit of Wink of Stella I added to the heart shape and my final embellishments were the smallest size of the In Color Matte Decorative Dots.

Then I went back to my original plan to use the Balmy Blue Gingham Check for a card, and cut it the same as the first card - giving me a 2" strip to add to my envelope, and a 3/4" strip to decorate the inside of my card.

This time I wanted to share how easy it is to get great results with the Two-Step in the Beautifully Happy Stamp Set - a Sale-a-bration item that you can choose as a Free Gift when your order is $120 - and with so many great new bundles in the Spring Mini it will be easy to reach that amount!!

The flower and the Balmy Blue cardstock and DSP make for a really pretty birthday card - I know someone is going to enjoy their happy mail from me very soon! I added some Gold Pastel Adhesive-backed Sequins for a bit of bling - what do you think?? Which card do you like best?? I'd love to see what you are making so share with us hereπŸ˜‰πŸ’•

Sunday Share - A Fun Sketch For You!

It's time for another Sunday Share and today I'm giving you another sketch to add to your inspiration board. It's an easy one and the centre oval can be any shape you want - it does not have to be the pictured design - sketches are meant to inspire you, not to follow exactly (unless you want to LOL!)

I had two ideas in mind when I drew this sketch for a Facebook page I'm on and I'm sharing both of my cards with you here so grab your cuppa' and read along with me . . . .

This card features a few new products in our Spring Mini (January - April Mini) including the new Small Blending Brushes and Blending Brushes Storage (p 67) - the smaller size brushes were the perfect size for adding colour to my die cut flowers and will be a great add-on to your regular sized brushes. And the storage box holds all my regular brushes plus the new smaller ones  and sits out ready to use! I took this picture after I used the new brushes and gave them a quick rinse so they are ready for next time πŸ’•πŸ˜‰

I love the effect I got from using one of the Framed Florets Dies (p 65) on the Mossy Meadow layer for my card front - the little hearts in the oval frame are so cute (and if you want to save them for a shaker card there are lots!).

The die cut flowers and leaves are stamped from the coordinating Framed Florets stamp set in the bundle and did you notice that Stampin' Up! has started to name the stamps and dies the same with this new catalogue?? Easy to remember now which stamps and dies go together!!

The waterclour wash background behind the oval is one of the backside designs in the Sale-a-bration Dainty Flowers Designer Series Paper pack (p 6 in SAB flyer) that you can choose as a FREE Gift with each qualifying purchase. It makes pretty cardmaking so easy!!

My second card takes full advantage of one of the floral patterns in the Dainty Flowers DSP - I cut the strip of ovals off the full sheet and then cut one down to 3 7/8" x 4 3/4" before matting on Crushed Curry and Garden Green cardstock layers. I got my colour choices from the list that Stampin' Up! provides on each pack of DSP - it's always there for you to check!

How perfect is this greeting (stamped in Garden Green ink) for that someone special that you are sending this card to?  All you need to add inside is your happy birthday wishes and you are ready to send!

The new Adhesive-Backed Milky Dots (p 31) really pick up the colours on the background and are the perfect add to finish off my card . . .  I added a strip of the DSP to my envelope flap too! Can you see the textured look that is right in the design? So cool!

Ready to shop now?  Click here to go to my online store anytime and use my current Host Code 97AVUSCC (if your order is under $200) so I can track your orders and enter you in my monthly draws for shared Host Rewards. And I send you my thank you treats in the mail too!

Watch for my newsletter later this week where I share another sketch for you to use!

Happy stamping!

Sunday Share - Yes! Paper Pumpkin Is a Great Deal During Sale-a-bration!!

Taking a break for Christmas and New Years kinda messed up my usual schedule to give you the latest on Paper Pumpkin at the end of each month - hoping this will catch you up - there are still two more days to sign up for the January kit called Key To My Heart . . . . and it's got a fun story behind it too! Deadline for January's kit is the 10th so order now before you forget!

Here's what's in the kit -

This month’s kit includes everything you need to create 9 love-themed cards—3 each of 3 designs. It has coordinating envelopes, special padlock and key die cuts, adhesives, Vellum, and more!

This month’s kit has a unique love-theme photopolymer stamp set! With special sentiments and images that represent the tradition of locking padlocks on a bridge, there are so many ways for you to express your devoted love. This kit would be great for Anniversary or Wedding cards too - always good to have them on hand when you need one!

The Key to My Heart Paper Pumpkin Kit also comes with a Fresh Freesia Classic Stampin’ Spot.

Finished card size: 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" (standard card size)

Coordinating Stampin’ Up! colors: Calypso Coral, Fresh Freesia, Mango Melody, Petal Pink. The designs are accented with gold foil.

This kit also has a special add-on to take your crafting even further!

Heart Boxes Add-On #162417; Price: $15.00

The add-on includes:

10 treat boxes; Key and label stickers; Box size: 3" x 4" (Perfect to have on hand for that time when you need to give someone a little treat to say "I'm thinking of you"!!)

Coordinating Stampin’ Up! colors: Petal Pink with gold foil and you can add this to your order before you check out!!

Here's the story behind the kit called "Locked In Love":

This month’s kit is special for its theme and the message it holds. The designs come from the love lock tradition most famously practiced in Paris, France. Couples would take a padlock, inscribe their names on the back, lock it onto the bridge, and throw the key into the river below. It was meant to show they were devoted only to one another and to symbolize their forever love. This season, as you craft with the Key to My Heart Kit, keep in mind this special tradition. While you may not be able to lock a padlock on a bridge, you can definitely share a special paper craft with someone special.

Did you know that buying Prepaid Subscriptions to Paper Pumpkin can earn you FREE Sale-a-bration gifts??  That's right - all 3-6-12 month subscriptions qualify for FREE gifts from the Sale-a-bration flyer - how awesome is that?? I always buy my subscriptions this way, and if I'm not going to be home one month, I can suspend and my subscription is on hold then picks up the following month - such a great way to add to your stamps, ink spots and have cards ready to send for any occasion throughout the year!

The boxes are the perfect size to store the stamp sets and ink spots once you are done the kit. Use this link to go to my online store and get your subscription going by purchasing the prepaid option of your choice, then using the email code in your Paper Pumpkin Account. It's a new year, with a new catalogue and for me, a new way of sharing my ideas with you.  I've been holding my classes since early 2011 and realize while trying to decide what to pack, keep or sell to prepare for our pending move (first we have to sell our townhouse) that I need to focus on my personal projects for the coming year - and that's after we get settled into a new place.

My plan is to continue with weekly newsletters and corresponding blog posts that will highlight some card making ideas and techniques and feature new products, or special promotions - but I won't be having any classes - either in person or on Zoom. I will have a garage sale for retired products soon so you can come, visit and shop once I give out the dates.  I'm waiting until the weather gets a bit warmer so we don't freeze in the garage!!

I will still have a monthly Host Code posted on my blog, and included in each newsletter for you to use (January's Host Code is 97AVUSCC). I will close off the code with a workshop order the last day each month and will draw for Host Rewards from all orders submitted that month over $35.00.  I will include any orders that you want me to put in on your behalf on that final day and you can pick up here once they arrive. My hope is that most of you will try online ordering as I'm not sure where "here" will be once we sell and I'm being super positive that will happen for us this spring!

As long as orders come in to keep my business going, I'll keep sharing projects at my end and on my Facebook page too - if you haven't seen it yet then check the link and there will always be something to see from Stampin' Up!.

Happy stamping

Ginny
