Canada Inks Up! Team Blog Hop with Pretty Pumpkins

 

Today's Canada Inks Up! Team Blog Hop theme is "Anything but Christmas" so I reached for my Pretty Pumpkins Bundle and then I spied my Sparkle of The Season Bundle and decided to use both!

The Detailed Pumpkins Dies have a lovely lacy die that I have used before, but combining the smaller one with the fall wreath image and mini pumpkins in the Seasonal Swirl Dies makes for a great card I think . . . . and I hope you like it too!

The card base is Very Vanilla Cardstock, and I glued a layer of Harvest Meadow Designer Series Paper to the front of my card base. I embossed a piece of Cajun Craze Cardstock with the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder, then distressed the edges. I stamped the pumpkin images on Very Vanilla CS in Cajun Craze Ink, then did a wee bit of colouring with my Soft Succulent Blends on the leaves. I die cut the large pumpkin, two smaller ones and the swirly wreath from the Bronze Brushed Metallic Cardstock (so happy it carried over from last year!) The greeting is stamped in Cajun Craze too and die cut using the Tasteful Labels Dies - one of my go-to die sets!

I love making fall cards as the colours are so vibrant and remind me of growing up in Montreal where we had lots of maple trees in our area and in the mountains too.

Sunday Share - Craft and Chat Card Ideas For You!

Hi everyone - at my monthly Craft and Chat events, I share some ideas for making quick and easy cards that are meant to help you use up some of your patterned papers aka Designer Series Papers (DSP).  Why would I share these cards? Well, if you use up all your Designer Series Papers, then you are going to want more, aren't you?? And I'm happy to help you replenish your supply! Win-win for both of us!! This first group of cards shown above are done by cutting 3 pieces of coordinating patterns each 3 3/4" x 5". You then cut each piece on the angles as shown in the first picture, and then mix and match - super quick and super easy! Punch a label and stamp a greeting and you have added three more cards to your box ready for any occasion! And if you aren't sure what you will use the cards for, wait until you need one and add the greeting at the last minute - or stamp a few greetings ahead to grab and go! 

The sketch idea used for the two cards above is from one of my summer newsletters in case you missed it and uses some coordinating patterns from the Hand-Penned DSP and stamping and embossing with lots of colour contrast in my purple card to create the texture and layers . . . . and this sketch will work for any season too. How cute are the little penguin and snowman on the card below?? It's a Fall Blog Hop with Pretty Pumpkins to Inspire You!

Happy Fall to you! Maybe this time of year says Autumn to you but whatever you call the season, you are sure to be inspired by the wonderful creative projects in today's Blog Hop - join me and visit every blog and come away with lots of ideas to make your seasonal crafting easy!

My card today features the Pretty Pumpkins Bundle of coordinating stamps and dies as well as the mini pumpkin die cut from the Seasonal Swirls Dies (part of the Sparkle of The Season bundle). I added some Harvest Meadow Designer Series Paper strips, and ran my Cajun Craze cardstock piece through the Bark Embossing Folder for extra texture. 

My card base is Very Vanilla which seems to go really well with the autumn palette, and I added some of the Harvest Meadow DSP to the envelope flap for extra interest.

Blue Painter's Tape or similar for holding mask in place.

TIPS: When using Embossing Paste, don't worry about perfection. Having varying depths and textures adds to the overall effect. Clean up tools right after using, as the paste dries quickly, and is much easier to clean off the masks and tools while wet. Clean masks and tools with tepid running water and mild liquid dish soap. A soft damp cloth can also be used, but be careful not to bend edges of detailed mask images.
