Sunflowers Tribute to Ukraine at Canada Inks Up Team Blog Hop

 

Today is our Canada Inks Up! Team Blog Hop and our theme is "anything but a card". Since my first love is scrapbooking even though I do share mostly cards, I knew I would be making a layout for my post. Leave us a comment on our posts so we know you visited and enjoy the variety of projects!

Like most of us watching the horrific scenes captured by the media for us in Ukraine, I wanted to do something to remember this heartbreaking war but at the same time to honour the resilience of the Ukrainian people fighting for their homeland. Their national flower is the Sunflower and that reminded me of a layout I've been wanting to do since last summer. 

The pictures were taken last year by my brother and sister in law when they went to the Abbotsford Sunflower Festival in August. They got some stunning pictures that I wanted to capture in a layout and this seemed the right time. I will probably do another page as I'm normally a two-page layout kind of gal! 

The Designer Series Papers are from the In Color 6" x 6"packs - Bumblebee and Cinnamon Cider (retiring in May), Evening Evergreen and Pacific Point is from the Brights collection.  The assortments for each colour family sure come in handy when you want to have some DSP with specific colours in mind like I did 😉.  And they make adding a variety of patterns to your layouts so easy!

After cutting several strips from the DSP colours I chose, I stamped and die cut some of the lovely images from the Celebrate Sunflowers Bundle.
