A Spring Card For Canada Inks Up! Team Blog Hop!

It's time for our February Canada Inks Up! Team Blog Hop - our theme this month is "Spring" so join our hop and see what each one has made to share with you!

I'm so happy you dropped by my blog today and hope you enjoy my breath of "Spring" I made into a card for you. I've been making lots of lavender projects lately and think it's because I'm helping our family near Nelson, BC with marketing their lavender products . . .  I do love lavender though so it's not a bad thing!

I'm using Friendly Hello Designer Series Paper and the coordinating Friendly Hello Stamp set from this spring's Sale-a-bration flyer . . . there are only a few more days to grab your FREE products from this flyer with your qualifying purchases from the current Annual and/or January-June Mini catalogues  so get your orders in by February 28th and you can enjoy making some amazing cards with this set too!!

I used Thick Basic White cardstock for my card base (standard 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4") and added a layer of Fresh Freesia cardstock embossed with the Stitched Greenery Die - have you tried it yet? Oh my, it makes your layers pop!  Then I found the perfect piece of Designer Series Paper in the pack with the Freesia floral print with black outlines that look like I stamped - but I didn't!

I die cut the Designer Series Paper with one of the Scalloped Contours Dies and glued it to a strip of Layering Designs Vellum from the new Mini - don't you love how we can pull products from any catalogue and it all looks great?? They got set at an angle on the embossed cardstock just because I don't always do straight LOL! Then I added this to the card base with DImensionals.

I stamped the flowers in Fresh Freesia on a Basic White square that I trimmed down after stamping  to 3" x 2 5/8". The leaves were stamped in Pear Pizzazz and I added some of the speckles and tiny florals in Fresh Freesia stamped off once. 

I looped the Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon on the back of the stamped piece, then added Dimensionals to pop onto the front.  I took a small strip of Fresh Freesia and stamped my sentiment from Timeless Tulips in Memento Black then die cut most of it (the die was longer than my strip!) using one of the greeting dies in the Harvest Dies set carried over from the 2021 Holiday Mini. All that was left was for me to glue a strip of the Designer Series Paper to the envelope flap and my card is ready to send to a friend for a Happy Spring card. Doesn't the Fresh Freesia colour make you think of the early crocuses that pop up in our gardens??

Sunday Share - Abstract Beauty Suite Makes Quick Cards

I cut one sheet in two and made two notecards. I used a couple of the other designs in the pack for my hexagon die cuts (yay for new hexagon dies!!) and added some Gilded Gems and In Color Square Gems in Jade to my cards for added bling, This size is perfect for a card front, plus some trim for the inside or envelope . . . .  it's also great for adding to layouts for matting pictures! Just trim your picture down a bit to show off the paper behind 😊

I added a greeting from the Flowing Flowers Stamp Set - a fun one to add to a card for a friend (instead of a text!). I'm trying to send more cards - are you??

Sunday Share - Valentines Sweet Talk - A Family Affair!

 

I'm sharing the Sweet Talk Suite today featured in the 2022 January-June (Spring) Mini catalogue starting on p 8-9. I'm sure you've seen lots of fun ideas with this suite of products so today I'm sharing some last minute ideas for you and a reminder that the Designer Series Paper along with the really cute and versatile dies will help you create some "sweet" layouts featuring the "heart" moments in your lives long after February 14th is over. 

One of the neat products in the collection is the Sweet Little Boxes which are the perfect size for mini surprises and gift cards too - and not just for Valentines as they can be used all year round stamped with your favourite seasonal stamps or covered with some pretty papers!

Here's my card for someone special tomorrow (shh can't tell!) and the products I used to make it.

I had a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock embossed with the one of the Dotty Hearts Embossing Folders from an earlier project so decided to cut it down a bit and add it to the front. I die cut the pretty hearts from the Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper (LOVE when we can do that!!) to add to the front of my card plus one peeking out from inside!

I coloured the White Twine with my Dark Highland Heather Blends so I'd have the perfect match to the papers I used. So quick and easy to do and it dries almost instantly!

Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop - Honouring Our Furry Friends

Today's blog hop from Crafty Collaborations celebrates every type of event with our pets so please join this awesome group of demonstrators from around the world as we share some crafting ideas with you under the title Stampin' Dreams . . . so grab your favourite cup and hop along!

One of our current Sale-a-bration free items is the bright and cheerful Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper pack that was perfect for a card I wanted to send to a friend. She had just lost her fur baby and messaged me that she was now at Rainbow Bridge so this card came to be❤

I liked the idea of the slim card so I could put lots of rainbows on the front, and inside I included a copy of the Rainbow Bridge poem from the internet. 

I added a smaller print to the envelope flap and was really happy with the end results. Our pets give us so much love during their lives with us, and this card was a small way for me to honour their love and help my friend remember the good times. If you still have the retired Dog Punch, you can easily adapt this card idea for a pup.

Have you tried the slim cards yet? This base was cut from Thick Basic White 7" x 8 1/2" and scored at 3 1/2" so it fit perfectly in the new Slimline Envelopes featured in the Spring Mini on p 53 as an add-on to the Slim Sayings Bundle. The Slim Sayings Bundle cuts really well with our Adhesive Sheets - a perfect pair! 

I cut the DSP with the larger rainbow design on the image lines, then trimmed to fit the card front width.

Sweet Talk Slimline Card with Festive Friday

 

It's fun to take part in challenges to give our ideas a different direction . . . . today's card is all about hearts and a few other things too! You can check out the blog post from Festive Friday here and enter your own ideas until February 14th! 

I decided to choose Pink, Sparkle, Ribbon and Hearts for my card, and then added a greeting that could fit the Romantic Sentiment too 😊

I have made a few slimline cards lately and really like the extra space on the card front to embellish just a bit more than a regular card size. This card started with Thick Basic White cardstock cut at 7" x 8 1/2" and scored at 3 1/2". That's a perfect fit for the new Slimline Envelopes on p 53 in the Spring Mini. 

Here's some of the products I used - plus I punched the scalloped hearts from In Color Shimmer Vellum in the Annual Catalogue for my sparkle (Fresh Freesia to the rescue to coordinate with Highland Heather in the Designer Series Paper!)

Can you see the sparkle in the Fresh Freesia Hearts?? 

Here's a tip for adding the DSP to the envelope flaps - use your Silicone Mat under the flap, then add adhesive of choice to the flap. Top with your DSP strip cut to 1 3/8" x 4", burnish with your Bone Folder then trim the edges from the back with your Paper Snips. I also stamped some hearts on the front of the envelope💕

Here's the Sweet Talk Collection #157629 p 8 that I used today although I added my texture with the Dotty Hearts Embossing Folders (Annual Catalogue p 154) in Blushing Bride Cardstock and added Fresh Freesia Shimmer Ribbon..
